For those who live close to fields and forests – or actually right within it and alongside it – nature becomes a matter of the heart. We've experienced this firsthand, and that's why nature, the environment, climate, and consequently: the future, are close to our hearts. We aim for a mindful approach to resource utilization whenever feasible. We replace bed linens, kitchen towels and bath towels every seven days – and of course: upon your request.

We have plenty of greenery around our farm, including a beautiful and fertile garden of our own. During the warmer months we endeavor to produce as much of our vegetables, salads, herbs, as well as fruit products like jams and juices as possible. We also process our farm products in-house – ensuring a gentle approach to their production. Sustainable products not only taste better but are also healthier. As our guests, you naturally get to enjoy them!

Then there's the energy issue: In 2009 we renovated and expanded the entire farm. During this process all building components were brought up to the latest standards set by the South Tirolean Climate House Agency. We integrated a biological wastewater treatment plant into the system. In 2010 we added a photovoltaic system on the roof, allowing us to cover a large portion of our energy needs and even heat water with it. Our system produces a whopping 12,000 kWh per year, and we're a little proud of that. Also our room heating in winter reduces CO2 emissions. We have a wood chip heating system that we fill with material from local forests. This not only ensures short transport distances but also contributes to the preservation of jobs: The wood is chopped and cut locally to fit into the system.

Last but not least: In our establishment all guests get the BrixenCard. You can use public transportation for free, allowing you to leave your car at our farm while enjoying your holiday adventure. The bus stop is just a 5-minute walk from our farmhouse, and the bus to Brixen runs every 30 minutes! Additionally, we are located directly on the cycling path, meaning you can start your South Tirol adventure right from our doorstep with your mountain bike or e-bike. For your return journey, you can also take the train for free – thanks to the BrixenCard.

Plastic: Plastic bottles, yogurt containers, and packaging films
Glass: Bottles and jam jars (Attention: no ceramics!)
Organic waste: all types of food waste
Residual waste: everything that does not belong in the other containers

The tap water at Moarhof is of very good quality. It is drinking water! Additionally, there is a mineral water maker called “Sodastream“ with the appropriate bottles available in your apartment. Thus, you can make your own sustainable mineral water. We and nature thank you for your cooperation!
